Gloves
Gloves with five fingers permit you to conduct more complex tasks with your hand than mittens. On average mittens are warmer than gloves because there is a smaller surface area than fingered gloves (for cold air to effect). Mittens with an independent index finger are available.

Dual layer gloves are available. These include a water proof mitten on the outside with a fingered glove liner.The liners are attached to the mitten so you will not drop them.

Gauntlets and keeper cords (aka idiot cords) are ideal for ice climbers and mountaineers. Gauntlets will keep the snow out of your gloves and the keeper cords will reduce the risk of losing them.
